Denzel the hedgehog is hiding across Truro again from Saturday

Truro’s best-known hedgehog has gone into hiding, and this time he has taken a few wooden friends with him. Denzel, the hedgehog from Trafalgar Roundabout, has tucked himself away in shop windows and visitor spots around the city centre, and families have five and a half weeks to track him down.

What is the trail

Denzel’s Hedgehog Trail runs from Saturday 25 July to Monday 31 August 2026 as part of Truro City Council’s Our Great Little Kids Club. The idea is simple. Wooden hedgehogs have been hidden in shop displays and popular attractions across Truro, and the challenge is to find them all.

Each hedgehog carries a letter. Collect every letter along the route and they spell out a hidden phrase.

How to take part

Pick up a free activity pack from either Truro Community Library or the Visit Truro Visitor Information Centre on Boscawen Street. Inside is a trail map to point you around the city and towards each hiding place.

Once you have worked out the phrase, drop the completed entry form back at the Library or the Visitor Information Centre. Everyone who finishes gets an “I Love Denzel” sticker, and their form goes into a prize draw.

A word for local businesses

The trail leans on shops and attractions across the city to host the hedgehogs and point customers towards it. Truro City Council has thanked everyone taking part and is asking businesses to spread the word to their customers.
