Cornwall weather: Saturday 1 August, 28°C peak before thundery week
If you have been waiting for a proper summer weekend, this is the one to make plans around. The forecast for South West England, covering Cornwall, has the county starting August dry, bright and warming up fast, with Sunday the pick of the days before the mood shifts early next week. Get the beach bags and the sun cream ready, because the settled spell has a use-by date.

Today
Any mist patches clear away quickly through the morning to leave things dry and sunny. A little fair weather cloud bubbles up in the afternoon, but there are still plenty of warm, sunny spells to go round. The maximum temperature reaches 23°C.
Tonight
It stays dry overnight under clear skies. A few mist patches are possible in places, and it turns cool out in the countryside. The minimum temperature drops to 7°C, so anyone camping or heading out early will want a layer to hand.
Sunday
Another dry day, and this is the warm one. Expect it to feel very warm in the sunny spells, with some patchy cloud developing through the afternoon but plenty of sunshine either side of it. The maximum temperature climbs to 28°C.
