Cornwall weather: Saturday 8 August, 28°C hot spell builds

If you have been holding out for a proper summer weekend, this looks like the one to clear your plans for. The Met Office forecast for South West England has Cornwall dry, sunny and climbing towards 28°C by Sunday, with only the briefest wobble early next week before the heat builds again.

Today

The day starts fresh, with the odd mist patch drifting across rural areas, but those will lift quickly. After that it is dry and sunny across the region, though the sunshine may turn rather hazy at times. Light winds and a maximum of 25°C make it feel very warm.

Tonight

The fine weather holds into the evening, with plenty of late sunshine to see the day out. It stays dry overnight with clear spells, and it will feel a little warmer than recent nights. The temperature drops no lower than 13°C.

Sunday

Sunday is the pick of the weekend. Another fine, dry day with plenty of sunshine across South West England, and in the light winds it will feel hot rather than just warm. The maximum climbs to 28°C.

Monday to Wednesday

The run of blue skies does not last unbroken. Monday brings a little more cloud, and temperatures dip briefly with it. The sunshine returns on Tuesday, and by Wednesday it is hot once again.
