Penzance Tapas Trail returns with £5 dishes before the food festival
A fiver, a small plate, and a good excuse to wander from café to bakery to street food stall for an afternoon. That is the promise of the Penzance Tapas Trail, which is back for 2026 and, its organisers say, bigger than ever.

A signature dish for £5 or less
The trail runs through the week leading up to the Penzance Food Festival, sending thousands of visitors into Penzance to explore the town and try venues they might otherwise walk past. Every business taking part creates a mini version of one of its signature dishes, priced at £5 or less, to eat in or take away. How to serve it is left to each kitchen.
Restaurants, cafés, pubs, bars, bakeries and street food vendors are all being invited to sign up.
‘We’ll do the marketing. You create the flavour.’
Behind the trail is Love Penzance, the group that promotes the town, and it is pitching the week as a way to reach new customers rather than a one-off. “We’ll do the marketing. You create the flavour,” the group says in its call to businesses.
The wider aim is to show off the town’s hospitality scene and, in Love Penzance’s words, to convince the rest of Cornwall that Penzance is fast becoming the food capital of the county. The group points to the food that has made the town one of Cornwall’s fastest-growing dining destinations, and the trail is built to put that in front of both locals and visitors.
How to take part
Businesses that want to join can register their interest by commenting on the Love Penzance announcement or by emailing [email protected]. Entries close on Wednesday 12 August.
