Meet Lucy, the new Pool Manager at Bude Sea Pool

There is a new name looking after one of North Cornwall’s best loved swimming spots, and she comes with saltwater in her veins. Bude Sea Pool has appointed Lucy as its new Pool Manager, stepping up from the crew who keep the tidal pool running through the busy summer season.

From Pool Crew to Pool Manager

Lucy joined the team as Pool Crew last year and is already a familiar face down at the pool, so the promotion is a natural next step. The team behind the pool said they were excited to see her take on the new role.

The free-to-use sea pool sits below the cliffs at Summerleaze Beach in Bude, filled and refreshed by the tide, and it draws thousands of swimmers, families and open-water regulars through the season.

All about the Big Blue

“I’m all about the Big Blue,” Lucy said. “Having been brought up on the beaches of North Devon, I spent my 20s diving and swimming my way around the world before settling back on the Devon/Cornwall border in 2010, where I’ve been raising a family (and a few other animals!) ever since.”

Her connection to the water runs well beyond the pool wall. As a member of Bude Surf Life Saving Club and the RNLI Water Safety Team, she is a regular sight out in the bay.

“You’ll regularly find me out in the bay,” she said, “getting my daily dose of Vit Sea.”
