Cornwall weather: Monday 10 August, a hot week builds to 30°C

If you have been waiting for summer to properly turn up, this looks like the week for it. After a mixed spell, the next few days across Cornwall are set to be dry, settled and increasingly hot, with the mercury climbing towards 30°C and the strongest heat still to come by the middle of the week. The Met Office forecast for South West England points to plenty of sunshine, light winds to begin with, and no meaningful rain in sight.

Today

Monday starts the new week dry and settled with light winds. Any early cloud should break and clear through the morning to leave an increasingly sunny day right across the region, and it will feel warm once you are out in the sunshine. Highs of around 26°C.

Tonight

There is plenty of late brightness to see out Monday evening. It stays dry overnight with largely clear skies, apart from some patchy low cloud drifting around the moors. It will be a rather warm night in towns and cities, with temperatures holding up at about 12°C.

Tuesday

Another fine, dry day is on the way with strong sunshine across Cornwall. It turns a touch breezier than Monday, but that does little to hold the heat back, and temperatures climb higher again to reach about 30°C.

Wednesday to Friday

This is where the week peaks. The heat is set to top out on Wednesday and Thursday with more strong sunshine, so if you have outdoor plans or a spot of coast in mind, those are the days to watch. Areas of cloud start to arrive to round off the week, though it stays largely dry with no substantial rain to speak of. Worth keeping the sun cream and a water bottle close, and an eye on how the cloud builds as Friday approaches.
