Truro gets first UK test drives of Volvo’s new EX60

A car that judges named the UK’s most exciting new model just a day after the world first laid eyes on it is about to turn up in Truro. And for one weekend in August, drivers here get to sit in it, switch it on and take it out on the road before almost anyone else in the country.

The car is the new Volvo EX60, the Swedish brand’s latest fully electric SUV, and it is coming to a showroom on the edge of the city.

An award winner heads to Threemilestone

Vertu Volvo Truro, an approved Volvo retailer on Threemilestone Industrial Estate, is opening its doors so local drivers can be among the first in the UK to see and test drive the EX60.

The car was voted the UK’s most exciting upcoming new car at the What Car? Awards, just one day after its global reveal. It will be available to test drive for the first time at the Truro retailer from Friday 21 August to Sunday 23 August.

503 miles and a 16-minute top-up

The P12 AWD Electric model offers the longest driving range of any Volvo to date, with up to 503 miles on a single charge. Its ultra-fast-charging can take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 16 minutes, though as the small print below explains, those two headline figures apply to different versions of the car.

Inside, there is a spacious, premium cabin with a dashboard-mounted speaker and a choice of four contemporary interiors, all made using a combination of renewable and recycled materials.

What the test-drive weekend involves

Rather than a quick spin around the block, the sessions are built to show what the car can actually do. Each visitor gets a personalised test drive with a Volvo Specialist, taking in the EX60’s technology in real-world situations.

That runs from the 360-degree camera and intelligent parking sensors to Volvo’s latest driver assistance features, and a look at the benefits of its 800-volt fast-charging at a nearby public charger. Guests can also try Google Gemini by asking it to recommend something tailored to them, whether that is a favourite local restaurant, a scenic drive or somewhere nearby to visit.
