Man on sex offenders register after Newquay exposure

A man who exposed himself to drivers on a Newquay road in the early hours has walked away from Truro Crown Court with a suspended sentence, seven years on the sex offenders register and a warning that any slip will send him to prison.

Spotted on CCTV in the early hours

The case goes back to 14 September 2024, when police were called to reports of a man acting suspiciously in Newquay in the early hours of the morning. Officers worked with Newquay Council CCTV operators to trace him, and saw him exposing himself on a nearby road to passing motorists. He was arrested at the scene and a quantity of cocaine was seized.

Suspended sentence and seven years on the register

Kiran Rabdiya, 48, of Stanmore in London, was found guilty of exposure and possession of a class A drug after a trial at Truro Crown Court. He appeared for sentencing on 6 August 2026.

Kiran was handed three months in prison, suspended for 24 months. He must also sign the sex offenders register for seven years, complete 100 hours of unpaid work and carry out 20 days of rehabilitation activity. A breach of the suspended sentence will mean jail.

PS Jack Muscatt, who supported the investigation, said: “The behaviour displayed by Rabdiya caused significant concern and distress within the community.

“Everybody should be able to go about their daily lives without fear of being subject to this intimidating behaviour.

“We remain committed to tackling this type of behaviour, supporting victims and pursuing those who are responsible for these offences to ensure they are brought before the courts.”

Part of a wider push on sexual offences

The conviction is one of many the force has secured this year. Between January and June 2026, Devon & Cornwall Police investigators brought about the conviction of 138 people for sexual offences.

Of those, 55 were convicted of rape. Between them, those 55 offenders carried out 99 rapes, and they have been sentenced to nearly 400 years in prison.
