Torpoint Ferry drops to two boats this week, three at the weekend

If you cross the Tamar on the Torpoint Ferry, your wait might feel a touch longer than usual for the next few days. The chain ferry is running a reduced timetable, with the promise of a weekend boost before things settle again.

Two ferries for the rest of the week

The Torpoint Ferry is operating a two-ferry service for the remainder of this week. In practice that means a departure from each side of the river roughly every 15 minutes.

Tamar Crossings, the joint committee that runs the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry, says the reduced timetable is a temporary arrangement to keep the ferry running safely and in line with its operating requirements.

An extra ferry over the weekend

The service steps up to three ferries across the weekend to cope with the heavier traffic, before dropping back to two at the start of next week.
