Cornwall weather: Thursday 13 August, 34°C peak then cooler
If you have been waiting for the hottest day of the spell, this is it. Thursday is where the heat tops out across Cornwall, with the mercury climbing towards a level most of us can count on one hand each summer. Make the most of it, because the rest of the week’s weather has other ideas, and the change starts as soon as tomorrow.

Today
A dry and largely sunny day, with just a little high cloud drifting in during the afternoon. It will feel hot, though sea breezes along the coast should take the edge off for anyone near the water. Inland and out of the wind is where you will really feel it. The regional forecast for South West England puts the maximum at 34°C.
Tonight
The warmth carries on well into the evening, dry with plenty of late sunshine to see the day out. Overnight, some cloud may spill into the west, but skies stay largely clear elsewhere. It is set to be a warm and uncomfortable night for sleeping, with the temperature holding up at a minimum of around 15°C.
Friday
A warm and sunny start, but the cloud builds through the day and turns that sunshine hazy by the afternoon. A few showers could also develop in the west. It will feel a little cooler than Thursday, with a maximum of 26°C, which is a drop of eight degrees in 24 hours.

The weekend and into Monday
Largely dry through Saturday and Sunday, with some sunny spells to enjoy between the cloud. Monday looks like staying dry too, although rain may push in later in the day. The headline through it all is cooler air, with temperatures easing back to nearer the August average. The heat of Thursday, in other words, is not hanging around.
