Rider critical after motorcycle crash at Connor Downs

A man remains critically ill in hospital after the motor tricycle he was riding left the road at Connor Downs and came to rest in a field, and police are now trying to piece together exactly what happened.

What happened on Gwinear Road

Emergency services were called to Gwinear Road at around 2.45pm on Sunday 16 August, following a collision involving a black Yamaha motor tricycle. The vehicle left the carriageway and came to a stop in a nearby field.

The rider and his passenger

The rider, a man in his 60s, sustained serious injuries and remains in a critical condition at Derriford Hospital. His passenger, a teenage girl, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Treliske Hospital. Both are from the Camborne area.

Road closed for hours while officers investigated

Officers from the Roads Policing Team closed the road for three-and-a-half hours to carry out investigative work at the scene.

Police want to hear from witnesses

Enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are continuing, and officers are appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or who has dashcam footage, to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the Force website or by calling 101, quoting log 448 of 16 August.
