New adult learning hub opens in Saltash this September

Fore Street in Saltash is about to gain a new stop on the timetable. From this September, On Course South West opens its first Saltash base, and before a single class begins, the team wants the whole town to come and have a look round.

Two open days on Fore Street

Two community open days at The Saltash Studio mark the launch, on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th September. Anyone is welcome to drop in, meet the teaching team and see what is coming up.

Thursday runs in two sessions, 9.30am to 12pm and 1pm to 3.30pm. Friday follows the same morning slot, 9.30am to 12pm, with the afternoon session finishing a little earlier at 2.30pm. Free English and maths skills assessments are available throughout both days, and taster wellbeing workshops run 10.30am to 11.30am and again from 1.30pm to 2.30pm on each date.

On Course South West (OCSW) describes itself as a knowledgeable and welcoming team committed to inclusive, high quality learning in a safe and supportive environment, and is encouraging anyone curious about a new qualification, skill or career move to call in and ask.

What is already on the timetable

Three courses are confirmed to start once the open days are done, delivered in partnership with Saltash Studios.

Wellbeing: Discover Your Positive Self starts on 14th September, running Mondays from 10.30am to 2pm and built around mental health, resilience and personal growth.

Maths Functional Skills and English Functional Skills both start on 17th September. The maths course runs Thursday mornings, 9.30am to 12.30pm, building practical, real world number skills toward a formal qualification. The English course follows the same day, 1pm to 4pm, working on reading, writing and workplace communication.

More courses in the pipeline

Digital Skills and Employment Preparation courses are both in the pipeline for the Saltash hub, though dates have not yet been confirmed.
