Falmouth to St Ives: Taylor Money’s 100-mile hike for MND

Published On: 10 September 2026Last Updated: 10 September 2026By

A hundred miles of clifftop path, five days on the clock, and one very personal reason to keep walking. That is the challenge a team from a Falmouth wealth firm has set itself this September, in support of a colleague whose family is living with a disease that currently has no cure.

The 100 Mile Hike

Taylor Money, a Falmouth-based wealth management firm, is preparing to take on a gruelling relay hike along the South West Coast Path in support of the MND Association. Named The 100 Mile Hike, the challenge runs from Monday 21 to Friday 25 September 2026.

The team will walk in relay each day, setting out at 7am on the Monday from the firm’s Falmouth office and heading west along the coast path, crossing rugged Cornish terrain and steep coastal climbs. The aim is to reach St Ives Head by the end of the week, and to raise £10,000 by the end of 2026.

A cause close to home

For Taylor Money, the challenge is deeply personal. The firm picks a charity to support each year, and this time the team is fundraising for their colleague Shannon, her partner Sam, 31, and their two young children, after Sam was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a form of Motor Neurone Disease, at the end of 2025.

Phil Feast, Wealth Manager, Director and Head of the Charity Committee at Taylor Money, said the team did not hesitate when deciding which charity to support this year.

“Each year we select a charity to support and raise money for, and this year it was a unanimous decision. Seeing first-hand how this disease has impacted Shannon’s family, but also the support that they have received from MNDA is all the motivation we need to keep us going across those five days of walking,” said Phil.

“If this challenge can bring a spotlight on the great work being accomplished by the MND Association, even in a small way, and also help raise valuable funds to continue to support those who need it most, then it will have been a success.”

Living with Motor Neurone Disease

Motor Neurone Disease attacks the nerves that control movement, gradually affecting a person’s ability to walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Currently there is no cure.

Since Sam’s diagnosis, the MND Association has helped the family access guidance, specialist services and practical support. Every pound raised through The 100 Mile Hike will help the charity continue standing alongside people affected by MND today, while funding research towards a world free from the disease.

The team hopes the scale of the challenge will encourage people across Cornwall and beyond to get behind the fundraiser and help the MND Association continue its work for families affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Whoever is out walking on any given day this September, the finish line is the same: St Ives Head, and a total that keeps climbing on the team’s JustGiving page.
