Police appeal after fatal crash near St Ewe, St Austell

A quiet unclassified road near St Ewe stayed closed for the best part of a day this weekend while officers carried out a scene examination that followed the death of a young local man. Police are now appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or who has dashcam footage, to come forward.

What happened

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to a report of a single vehicle collision involving a tractor and trailer on an unclassified road close to St Ewe, near St Austell, at around 10.10pm on Friday 11 September 2026.

Emergency services attended the scene. The driver of the tractor, a local man in his 20s, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Road closed while the scene was examined

Officers have thanked members of the public for their patience while the road remained closed so a full examination of the scene could be carried out. It was handed over to highways at around 3.50pm on Saturday 12 September 2026, once vehicle recovery had been completed.

The circumstances of the collision continue to be investigated.
