No way in on foot

St Agnes Coastguard Search & Rescue Team was tasked to Perranporth Beach after a report of two people cut off by the tide. It was the team’s 61st tasking of the year.

When crews arrived, a technical rope rescue was ruled out straight away. There was no safe access for it. A high spring tide had also closed off the route across the rocks, leaving the team with no way to reach the pair on foot.

924 called in

With the ground routes shut off, the team called in Helicopter 924. Working in what the team described as tricky conditions, the crew lifted both casualties clear of the rocks and flew them to a place of safety.

The team summed up the job in a single line: “Great team effort.”
