Liskeard Yarn Swap returns with a wreath up for grabs

There is a moment every crafter knows, staring at a cupboard rammed with half-used balls of wool that were definitely going to become something one day. For Liskeard‘s yarn and fibre fans, that moment now has a proper outlet again.

When and where

The Liskeard Yarn Swap returns on Saturday 3 October, running from 10am to 2pm alongside St Matthew’s Fair. This year the event moves to Liskerrett Hall, and the money raised on the day will go to the Liskerrett Centre itself.

What you can bring, and what you’ll find

The idea is simple. Bring along the yarn, fibre, fabric, needles, hooks, patterns and other woolly odds and ends taking up space at home, swap them for someone else’s unwanted stash, and walk away with new treasures instead of clutter. Anyone who turns up empty-handed can still take part by making a cash donation on the door, and there is a minimum entry donation of £1 either way.

Saltash Scrapstore will be running a stall alongside the swap tables, and there is a pop-up cafe serving tea and cake for anyone who wants to make a morning of it.

The raffle prize

There is also a raffle on the day, with the star prize a hand crocheted Christmas wreath, made by one of the event’s organisers and already a good few months ahead of the festive season.

Why it’s happening

The swap is organised by the 3 Bags Full group. Rachel Brooks, part of the group behind the event, said the response last year set the tone for this one.

“We were delighted to welcome so many people to last year’s yarn swap. It’s a great way to make good use of materials people don’t need any more. If you enjoy woolly crafts do come along to swap, chat and eat cake.”
