The yellow marks appearing across two Millbrook car parks explained

If you’ve parked at Millbrook‘s Village Hall or Greenland car park lately, the tarmac will have looked different. Loops and lines of yellow paint have gone down across both, and they’re not graffiti. Cormac put them there ahead of resurfacing work due to start next week.

What the yellow paint is marking out

Millbrook Parish Council confirmed the markings in a post, explaining that Cormac will be carrying out resurfacing works in the Village Hall and Greenland car parks. Each loop and outline marks a patch of the old surface due to be cut out and relaid.

A site notice put up in the car park gives a start date of Monday 28 September, with the wider patching programme expected to take around three days.

When the car parks will close

Cormac’s site agent has told the parish council the car park will need to close to the public for the working day. The reason is straightforward. It’s down to the size of the machinery needing access, and the dust thrown up when the old surface is cut out.

People will still be able to use the car park in the evening. Drivers are asked to watch for temporary surfaces and changes in level until the job is finished.

The work specific to the Village Hall and Greenland car parks is expected to take two days. The first goes on removing and cutting out all the patches. The second is spent laying the new surface back down. Crews will be on site from 7am, though noisy work won’t start before 8am, and the new patches should be cool enough to drive on again from 4pm onwards.

Getting to the pharmacy, Village Hall and beyond

Pedestrian access to both the pharmacy and the Village Hall will stay open throughout the works. Operatives on site have said they will accommodate vehicular access for less mobile visitors wherever possible.

Anyone due at either car park during the working day next week might want a plan B for where else to leave the car.
