Falmouth thanks Euan McPhee for 13 years at Tregoniggie Woodland

Thirteen years is a long time to look after a wood. And for Euan McPhee, it has been a labour of love that the town has now officially recognised.

At a recent Full Council meeting, the Mayor of Falmouth, Cllr Alan Jewell, presented Euan with a Falmouth Town Council plaque. It recognises his outstanding contribution to Tregoniggie Woodland and the wider Falmouth community.

Euan was accompanied by his wife for the presentation.

Thirteen years at the helm

Euan founded local volunteer group Friends of Tregoniggie Woodland in 2013, and he has chaired the community group ever since.

In that time he has given an enormous amount of time and energy to caring for, protecting and championing the green space. Under his stewardship, the Friends have worked tirelessly to look after the woodland and its habitats, helping to keep it a special place for wildlife and people to enjoy.

Beyond the woodland

His work has also reached out across the wider Falmouth Green Corridor. Euan has worked alongside other local conservation groups to support the network of woodlands, habitats and green spaces that runs from Kergilliack to Swanpool.

Stepping down as Chair

Euan is now preparing to step down as Chair of Friends of Tregoniggie Woodland.

Falmouth Town Council said it wanted to thank him for his remarkable commitment over the past 13 years, and for helping to safeguard this special part of Falmouth so it can be enjoyed by the whole community for years to come.

Its message to him was a simple one: “Thank you, Euan.”
