Barbican Hill in East Looe to close around the clock for 12 days
Anyone who uses Barbican Hill to get in or out of East Looe will need another way round this month.
Looe Town Council has shared notice of a road closure on Barbican Hill. It starts at 00:01 on Monday 12 October and runs until 23:59 on Friday 23 October 2026. The closure is in place 24 hours a day for the whole period.
The council is asking people to plan their journeys and allow extra time where needed.

What the roadworks map shows
The listing on one.network’s road closure map carries a red “Roadworks – delays likely” banner. It shows the works permit, reference UF888PW-080-2627-02, as granted.
A closure on Barbican Hill is first in its list of traffic restrictions. Below that come a diversion route and an entry for Shutta Road, which carries a no-pedestrians symbol for the same dates. A second diversion route is listed after that.
The diversion route
The map marks the diversion as a dashed blue line around the edge of town. It follows Barbican Road north from East Looe, joins the B3253 at the top, then comes back down St Martin’s Road towards the river and the bridge.
That makes it a much longer loop than the short run up Barbican Hill, so drivers heading in or out of Looe on that side of the river can expect a longer journey.
