St Austell Brewery pop-up thrift shop where nothing costs over £5

A secondhand jumper for a quid. A paperback for the price of a coffee. And every penny of profit heading to a cause that matters to families across the South West.

St Austell Brewery is opening the doors of its Visitor Centre next Friday (9 October) for a pop-up charity thrift shop in aid of Children’s Hospice South West.

What’s on sale

Shoppers will be able to browse a range of pre-loved clothing, accessories, books and household items. Everything is priced between £1 and £5.

The shop runs from 12pm to 5pm and is open to brewery employees and the general public. Cash and card are both accepted.

Where the money goes

All of the profits raised will be donated directly to Children’s Hospice South West, helping the charity continue its work supporting children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Nothing goes to waste either. Any items left unsold at the end of the day will be passed on to Children’s Hospice South West’s charity shops across the South West.

Part of the brewery’s first Sustainability Week

The thrift shop is one of the events in St Austell Brewery’s first ever Sustainability Week.

Emily Coon, Sustainability Manager at St Austell Brewery, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting this thrift shop in support of Children’s Hospice South West. As well as raising valuable funds for an incredible local charity, the event is a great opportunity to give pre-loved items a new home and encourage more sustainable shopping habits.”

“We hope colleagues and members of the community will come along, pick up a bargain and help make a difference.”

More details about the event are on the Hicks Bar Facebook page.
