Falmouth youth councillors have their say on Source FM

A group of young people who spent an August day behind the microphones at a Falmouth radio station are about to hear the results go out on air.

A summer day out with a purpose

The interviews were recorded during the Youth Council’s summer day out in August. Youth councillors spent the day researching how they can help make Falmouth safer and more welcoming for young people.

Their visit to Source FM was one of three stops. At the station they tried their hand at broadcasting and recorded their own radio feature.

They also tried out the new teenage menu at Palacio Lounge. That was part of their research for the potential launch of a Youth Council discount card.

And they finished the day in town, speaking to as many young people as possible as part of a youth survey.

What the town council says

Falmouth Town Council described it as “a busy and inspiring day”, saying it gave the Youth Councillors “the chance to listen to other young people, share their own ideas and think about what they would like to change in Falmouth”.

How to listen

The feature goes out on Source FM’s Breakfast Show just after 8am on Friday 2 October. The station broadcasts on 96.1 FM in Falmouth and Penryn, and is also available through the Source FM app.

Anyone who misses it can listen again online through the Source FM website.
