The poppies go on sale first. Then come the wooden crosses on the cathedral lawn, the wreaths on Boscawen Street and, at 11am on a Wednesday morning, two minutes when the middle of the city stops.

Truro has set out its Remembrance programme for 2026, with four dates spread across a little under three weeks. The events are organised in partnership between Truro City Council, the Truro Branch of the Royal British Legion and Truro Cathedral, and residents and visitors are welcome at all of them.

What the Mayor of Truro says

The Mayor of Truro, Councillor Chris Wells, said: “The November Remembrance events are an opportunity for us all to remember the many people who have given their lives in the service of our country, and to honour their bravery and sacrifice.

“I feel very privileged to be able to represent the people of Truro and the City’s Councillors and staff on these important occasions. It is always gratifying to see a good turnout of local people showing their support. I am sure the service personnel and the veterans are particularly grateful.”
