Tregony with Cuby Parish welcome sign daubed in green graffiti
The sign is meant to be the first friendly word a visitor gets. Right now it says rather more than it should.
Green paint has been daubed across the roadside sign that welcomes people to Tregony with Cuby Parish. The paint runs over the parish crest and the lettering beneath it, with words, crosses and a star shape scrawled across the white board.
Tregony with Cuby Parish Council has told residents about the damage in a message on the Tregony with Cuby Parish Council Facebook page, saying it was “disappointed to report that graffiti has appeared in the village”.

Time and money
The sign carries its greeting in English and in Cornish. Cleaning it up will not come free.
“Removing it will cost time and money that would be far better spent on things that benefit our whole community,” the council said.
What residents are being asked to do
The parish council wants to hear from anyone who comes across more of it, so it can be dealt with quickly.
“If anyone spots any further damage, let us know so we can deal with it quickly,” the council said.
It finished with a word of thanks to residents: “Thank you for helping us look after the place we all share.”
