Padstow’s Chidley Pump steps railings to be replaced this week
Anyone heading down to the water at Chidley Pump in Padstow this week may find themselves waiting a few minutes at the top of the steps.
Padstow Town Council says the railings at the top of Chidley Pump steps are being replaced, with work due to take place from Wednesday 7 October to Friday 9 October, weather dependent.

Finishing a job started in 2022
The bottom section of railings was replaced in 2022. The same contractor is now returning to carry out the work on the top section.
What it means for access
Work vehicles will be in Stile Field while the job is under way, and the town council says this may affect access to and from Chidley Pump.
The contractor will keep the route open as much as possible. But foot traffic may need to be held for a few minutes while certain parts of the work are carried out.
The town council has thanked people for their patience.
