Will Dean signs new multi-year Truro City deal: ‘It feels like home’

Five years, two promotions and three goals already this season. Will Dean was asked if he fancied staying at Truro City, and it did not take him long to answer.

The 26-year-old midfielder has signed a new multi-year contract with the Tinners, Truro City has announced.

From a loan cut short to a midfield regular

Will came through the ranks at Exeter City, and his first taste of senior football was a loan spell in Truro in the 2019-20 season. That spell was curtailed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He spent the following year back across the border at Exeter, and also had a loan spell at Bath City, then a Step 2 side.

In the summer of 2021 he joined Truro City on a permanent basis. Over the five years since, he has become a mainstay in the Tinners’ midfield.

Two promotions and a strong start to 26/27

During his time with City, Will has won promotion from both the Southern League and National League South.

He has started the current campaign in fine form too, scoring three times as the side have made a strong start to 26/27 in both league and cup competitions.

‘This place feels like home’

“It was an easy decision because I’m really enjoying my football here,” Will told trurocity.co.uk. “When signing a new contract was put to me, signing it was a bit of a no-brainer because I love it here.

“This place feels like home to me and you can see from the outside in, when people come to watch, that the club is moving in the right direction.

“Things like the ground, to being full-time and we are trying to do everything properly and that is very exciting.”
