War medals stolen as six homes burgled in Callington area

If you live in or around Callington, it might be worth checking that your doorbell camera is still recording.

Detectives are investigating a run of burglaries at homes in the town and the surrounding villages, and they are asking the public for help and vigilance, both to investigate what has happened and to deter further offences.

Six burglaries reported since 19 September

Since Saturday 19 September, Devon and Cornwall Police has received reports of four separate burglaries in Callington and two in the St Ann’s Chapel area.

What has been taken

Jewellery and cash have been stolen. In one case, war medals were taken.

Police say significant damage has also been caused to some of the premises.

What police are asking residents to do

Residents are being asked to be mindful of their home security when they leave their property, and to leave as few clues as possible that the premises are unoccupied.

If you have CCTV or a doorbell camera, police suggest checking that it is in good working order and still recording footage to the media card or cloud storage.
