Pavers Shoes to open at Trago Liskeard with a year of shoes to win

Somebody in south east Cornwall could be about to go a full year without paying for a pair of shoes.

Pavers Shoes is opening a new store at Trago Liskeard next Thursday (15 October), and it is marking the occasion with a prize draw for shoppers who call in.

How the competition works

There is a ballot box in the new store. Customers who visit in its opening weeks can enter, and the prize is a free pair of shoes every month for a year.

Pavers says the giveaway is its way of thanking customers for their support.

What the Liskeard store will sell

The shop will stock footwear for men and women. That covers trainers, seasonal boots, wide-fit styles and smart everyday shoes, along with accessories.

Brett Sharman, Area Manager at Pavers Shoes, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening our new store at Trago Liskeard, bringing our signature blend of comfort and style to a brand-new audience.

“At Pavers, our mission has always been to put our customers first, offering footwear that not only looks great but feels great too. Our Store Manager, Deb and the team are looking forward to meeting everyone when we open our doors in October.”

A business that began with a £200 loan

Pavers was founded in 1971 by Catherine Paver. She was 43 at the time, and took out a £200 bank loan to start selling footwear at homeware parties.

The business is still family run. It now has a retail network of 185 stores, employs more than 1,850 people, and owns and operates the Jones Bootmaker and Herring Shoes brands.

The company says it has been fully carbon neutral since 2021. And since 2018 it has donated more than £2.5m through its Foundation, supporting causes in health, education, community and the environment through an employee grant application scheme.
