A length of teal ribbon, a pair of purple scissors and a tray of cupcakes iced with the words “Banking Hub”. That was the scene on Trelowarren Street last Friday (9 October), as the town’s new place to bank in person was declared officially open.

The hub had already been serving customers. Friday was the day it got the formal send-off, with a crowd gathered on the pavement outside to mark the occasion.

Who cut the ribbon

The team behind the hub at Tehidy Road Post Office welcomed Perran Moon, the MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle, and the Mayor of Camborne, Ed Chapman, who attended on behalf of Camborne Town Council. Representatives from the banking community joined them, along with others who came along to see it open.

The team called the day “another special milestone” for the hub.

Months in the making

According to the team, the opening came after months of hard work behind the scenes. Their post marking the day said it was “wonderful to see the Hub open, welcoming customers and providing vital face-to-face banking services in the heart of Camborne.”

The people who made it happen

The team thanked Cash Access UK, the Post Office and everyone who helped get the hub open, and gave a nod to the staff who now run it every day.

There was a special mention too for Councillor Paul White and for CamborneTown.Com, both thanked for their support.
