Siblings team up to rescue bodyboarder swept out off Polzeath
Some families share a car or a dog. Down at Rock, one family shares a habit of running towards the sea when everyone else is heading out of it.
When the pagers went off at Rock RNLI, the call was to a bodyboarder being swept out to sea off Polzeath. Volunteer helm Tiger Harbour set off with the crew. By the time they reached the scene, someone else was already out there helping.

A familiar face in the water
It was Tiger’s younger brother, Max. He is an RNLI lifeguard, and although he was off duty at the time, he had gone out to help the bodyboarder before the lifeboat arrived.
The casualty was transferred into the station’s D class lifeboat and taken back to shore.
Checked over and sent home
Once on the beach, the volunteer lifeboat crew carried out an assessment to make sure the bodyboarder was well enough to head home.
If you get into trouble
Rock RNLI’s advice is the same as ever. If you find yourself in trouble in or around the coast, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
