The new shop at Newquay’s tip selling other people’s treasures
A dolls’ house with a green roof. A rusty red tricycle. A clock the size of a dustbin lid. None of it is going in the skip, and all of it is up for grabs at the tip in Newquay.
Kernow Reuse Shop has opened its tenth shop, this time at Newquay Household Waste Recycling Centre on Tevenson Road. The team says it is excited to have shop number 10 up and running.

What you might find
The shop sells pre-loved furniture and homeware, and the photos from the opening give a fair idea of the mix. Wall clocks and framed prints line a bright turquoise wall. There are wicker chairs, a gate-leg table, a gilt mirror, lanterns, a skateboard and a pair of carved wooden cats. Outside, a row of bikes, from a grown-up road bike down to a small child’s bike, waits by the entrance.
The team’s own pitch is simple. You never know what you might discover, from bargains to hidden gems.
Giving things a second life
The idea behind the shops is to stop usable items going to waste. Everything on sale has been given a second life, and the shop says every purchase helps reduce waste. Its banner at the site sums up the aim: promoting reuse and repair across Cornwall.
When to go, and what to do first
The Newquay shop is open every day from 9am to 4pm, at the household waste recycling centre run by Suez Recycling and Recovery UK, Tevenson Road, Newquay, TR7 3BW.
There is one thing to sort before you set off. Visitors are asked to book a slot first, through Cornwall Council’s recycling centre booking page.
“Thank you for supporting reuse and helping us make a difference,” the team said. “Here’s to shop number 10!”
