Parking in Truro doesn’t have to mean feeding a pay station by the hour. There are ways to pay less, a couple of ways to pay nothing at all, and plenty of drivers never hear about them.

Truro BID has rounded up the discounted options around the city, with full details on its Truro parking page. All but one are open to everyone, and the BID is asking Truro businesses to pass them on to their customers.

JustPark Wallet: £2.89 a day

JustPark Wallet offers discounted parking in most Cornwall Council long-stay car parks, and it’s aimed at commuters, residents and regular visitors to Truro.

In the city, it brings the cost down to £2.89 a day at Edward Street, Garras Wharf and Moresk (Oakway). It also works at a number of other Cornwall car parks listed on the Truro BID webpage.

To use it, download the JustPark app and add at least £35. The credit stays valid for two years.

High Cross Car Park for city centre workers

This is the one option that isn’t open to everyone. People who work in Truro city centre can use a discount code to pre-book Q-Park parking at High Cross online for £4.95 per 24 hours, Monday to Sunday.

To get the code, email [email protected] and say where you work.

Truro Park and Ride from £1.86 a day

Truro Park and Ride runs from two sites, Langarth Park and Tregurra Park, open from 6.30am to 8.30pm, Monday to Saturday. The last bus back from the city centre leaves just after 7pm.

Multi-Day Tickets start at £1.86 a day. That price is based on buying a 60 Day Ticket, and the days don’t need to be used consecutively.

Free parking after 4pm

Edward Street and Moresk (Oakway) car parks are both free after 4pm. Worth knowing if you’re heading into the city later in the day.

£2 Sundays at Lemon Quay

Lemon Quay Car Park on Fairmantle Street (TR1 2EG) is a long-stay multi-storey run by Excel Car Parking. On Sundays, parking costs £2 per visit between 7am and 12.30am.

There’s also a daily evening rate of £1.50, from 6pm to 12.30am.

Free weekend parking at County Hall

Cornwall Council’s car park at the front of County Hall is free to use on Saturdays and Sundays. There are 60 spaces, plus an EV charging point.

From there you can walk down into the city via Chapel Hill or Station Road, or catch a bus from outside Food Warehouse. The Park and Ride serves that stop on Saturdays. For all buses, tickets can be bought from the driver or through the Transport for Cornwall app.

Truro BID says all the details were correct at the time of publishing.
