Cornwall weather: Saturday 24 October, Storm Boelo brings gales
Batten down anything loose in the garden. Cornwall’s weekend opens with a named storm, Storm Boelo, driving in around dawn with heavy rain and strengthening winds, and the afternoon is the part to be wary of. The good news is it does not hang around. Here is how the weather across Cornwall looks from today into the middle of next week.

Today, Saturday 24 October
Storm Boelo arrives around dawn, bringing patchy rain with some heavy bursts and strengthening winds. The weather worsens gradually through the day and turns genuinely unpleasant in the afternoon, with more persistent heavy rain and gales possible. The maximum temperature is 14°C, so it will feel raw once the wind and wet set in. If you can keep your outdoor plans for later in the weekend, this is the day to do it.
Tonight
A line of heavy showers passes quickly this evening, then lighter rain lingers until around midnight. It stays very windy through the night, with coastal gales for exposed coasts, so the cliffs and seafronts are no place to be after dark. The minimum temperature is 9°C.
Sunday 25 October
Sunday is the turnaround. The morning stays windy with scattered showers, but these ease to leave a breezy, dry afternoon with sunny spells. The maximum temperature holds at 14°C. A good afternoon to get out, once the morning showers have cleared through.

The outlook, Monday to Wednesday
Half-term starts with one more wet morning. On Monday heavy rain passes through early, followed by strong winds and coastal gales once more. Tuesday is brighter, with scattered showers and strong winds still in the mix. By Wednesday the picture settles down to sunny, dry and breezy, the calmest day of the run.
So Storm Boelo gives Cornwall a rough Saturday and a blustery start to half-term, but each day after this one looks a little kinder than the last. Whether the settled spell holds past Wednesday is the part today’s forecast stops short of saying.
