iWalk Cornwall Launches New Self-Guided Mystery Walks Across Cornwall

Escape Room Meets Outdoor Adventure

A new kind of walking experience has just landed in Cornwall – and it’s not your typical stroll along the coast path.

iWalk Cornwall has launched a series of self-guided Mystery Walks, which combine the feel of an escape room with a mystery tour, all wrapped up in a scenic walk through some of Cornwall’s most historic towns and villages. The experience is designed to be a fun and flexible way to explore, whether you’re with family or a friend.

Each walk is guided by a story and a mystery to solve. Along the way, you’ll be challenged to crack puzzles to unlock your next direction. You won’t know where you’re headed at the start, but the mobile app provides step-by-step directions, a live map, and a compass-style tool showing where you are and which way to go.

Over 40 Puzzles, Offline Access, and Hidden Gems

According to the creators, each mystery includes:

  • A unique overall puzzle

  • Over 40 smaller puzzles of varying types (words, numbers, logic, or observation)

  • Hints that range from challenging to easy

  • A route curated by locals to showcase the best views and hidden gems

  • Quirky historical facts

  • Illustrations, sound effects and immersive storylines

Each walk typically takes 2–4 hours to complete. It’s not a race, so you can take your time, stop for photos or refreshments, and make a day of it.

The app is designed to work completely offline, so there’s no need for a phone signal or internet connection once downloaded. That makes it ideal for Cornwall’s more remote spots.

Only one download is needed per group, meaning the cost is shared – unlike escape rooms which usually charge per person.

The puzzles are aimed at adults, though older children might enjoy helping out, especially with some of the easier clues. The app even includes a virtual backpack to keep track of clues, backup photos in case signs are covered or missing, and a clever “route recovery” feature if you take a wrong turn or run into roadworks.
