Cornwall Artist Seeks Spaces for Watercolour Group Activities

A call to action for Cornish communities: artist Fiona Loveday is looking for venues and fellow painters to help grow a vibrant new art group

Watercolour specialist Fiona Loveday is bringing her unique style back home and is now on the lookout for halls and venues across Cornwall to host her new group, Wicked Watercolours, Westcountry.

With the Autumn term fast approaching, Fiona is hoping to find daytime venues for regular meet-ups, exhibitions, and workshops – and she’s calling on anyone with a suitable space to get in touch.

“There’s so much more fun to have working with watercolours doing things that just don’t work with other media,” Fiona explains.

From Hertfordshire to Cornwall

Fiona first launched her watercolour group more than 20 years ago in the Scouts Hall of Welwyn village in South Hertfordshire. Back then, her goal was to explore everything watercolour had to offer — especially the exciting, rule-breaking side of the medium.

Now based in Falmouth, Fiona is determined to reintroduce her “wicked ways” to her home county.

“Originally from Par, schooled at St Austell Grammar, but I’m convinced that the whole of Cornwall deserves to learn my wicked ways with watercolour mischief,” she says. “No slavish copying or ‘filling in between the lines’.”

Fiona is keen to inspire interpretation, impressionism, abstraction, and what she calls “a will to bring something fresh from inside YOU.”

County-wide community plans

The aim is to create a County-wide Wicked Watercolours Westcountry Community, offering regular opportunities for aspiring watercolour artists to meet, experiment, and share experiences.

Fiona is seeking venues in areas such as:

  • Hayle / Helston

  • Falmouth / Truro

  • Bodmin / Wadebridge

  • Liskeard / Looe

Any church hall, village hall or scouts hall with good light, tables and chairs, kitchen facilities and parking would be ideal.

“These are not teaching classes,” Fiona explains. “More a helpful community offering fellowship, encouragement, support and friendships sharing successes, experiences and learnings along the way.”

How to get involved

Anyone with access to a venue, or who would like to join this creative new group, is encouraged to reach out directly for an informal chat.

📞 Call: 07956 537140
✉️ Email: wicked.watercolours@gmail.com

A warm welcome awaits, whether you’re a seasoned painter or just starting out. Fiona’s vision is to turn “tempting topics into tremendous treasures”, regardless of previous experience.
