Boardmasters, the renowned festival set against the picturesque North Cliffs of Newquay, Cornwall, is inviting environmentally conscious individuals to volunteer for its Green Team.

This year’s festival, scheduled for 7th – 11th August 2024, aims to further its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

A Unique Volunteering Experience

Volunteers who join the Green Team will gain free entry to the festival, including camping privileges with access to hot showers—though they’ll need to bring their own camping gear. Each volunteer is entitled to one meal per shift from the crew catering services and will enjoy a full day off during the festival to experience the music and atmosphere. Additionally, volunteers will have time before or after their shifts on other festival days to enjoy the event.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

The festival is seeking volunteers who can commit to being on site from 5 pm on the 6th August until the 12th or 13th of August 2024. Duties include participating in beach cleans, maintaining cleanliness in the campsites, and managing waste in various areas across the festival site. Volunteers are expected to work in pairs and handle various shifts throughout the weekend, totaling approximately four hours each day.

To be eligible, applicants must be over 18 years of age and prepared to work outdoors. Boardmasters emphasizes the need for a positive attitude and a proactive approach to the tasks at hand.

Application Process

Interested parties are encouraged to submit their applications by the 30th of June 2024. A £150 deposit is required upon acceptance to secure a spot in the Green Team, which will be fully refunded after the festival, provided all shifts are completed and a feedback form is submitted by the 16th of August.

Applicants will be notified by early July if they have been selected. Due to the high demand and limited positions, potential volunteers are urged to inform the organisers as soon as possible if they are unable to participate after applying.

Making a Difference

Volunteering at Boardmasters is not only a chance to enjoy one of the UK’s leading festivals but also an opportunity to contribute to the preservation of the Cornish coastline. The festival’s Leave Only Footprints campaign is a core part of its environmental strategy, aiming to reduce the event’s ecological footprint and promote sustainable practices among festival-goers.
