Police Issue Section 59 Notices for Antisocial Driving in Bodmin
Police in Bodmin have stepped up enforcement against antisocial driving after receiving reports of late-night vehicle disturbances in the town centre.
Warnings Handed Out
Officers have issued four Section 59 notices to drivers and motorcyclists found causing noise and disruption after midnight, including loud engine revving.
A Section 59 notice is an official warning that allows police to seize a vehicle if it is used antisocially again within 12 months. Antisocial use of a vehicle can include street racing, stunts, cruising, off-road use or noise pollution.
Police Response
Police Constable Pickin, who supported with the enforcement, said:
“It was clear to see the impact that this behaviour was having on local people, so it was important for us to do something about it.
“This isn’t a one off – our officers will continue to carry out patrols on different days and at different times to identify and deter those causing disturbances.”
PC Pickin also urged people to continue reporting incidents:
“If you see any incidents of antisocial driving, please report it to us. Make note of the location, car model, colour and if possible, the licence plate.
“We’re listening and taking action. Your information is a vital in helping us with our investigations, so please keep reporting.”
How to Report
Anyone who witnesses antisocial driving is asked to report it to police either via the Devon & Cornwall Police website or by calling 101.
If a crime is in progress, always call 999.
