Bodmin Author Pete Minall Launches Two New Books

Published On: 29 September 2025Last Updated: 29 September 2025By

Bodmin author Pete Minall has announced the release of two very different books, bringing together tales of murderous folklore and the world of celebrity.

The double-header launch features Buffalo Bill and the Beast of Bodmin alongside Clunk, both due out on Friday 10th October 2025.

Buffalo Bill Meets the Beast of Bodmin

Buffalo Bill and the Beast of Bodmin is a historical fiction novel set in 1904. It follows William “Buffalo Bill” Cody as he joins the hunt for a murderous madman who escapes from prison.

The story takes readers across some of Cornwall’s most recognisable landmarks, including Lanhydrock House, Jamaica Inn, Cardinham Woods, Dozmary Pool and Bodmin Jail.

Pete, who now lives in Bodmin, has previously written titles such as The Spy, The Dwarf & The Mongol and Doyle and Wells. His latest work continues his style of blending historical intrigue with folklore and mystery.

Clunk: Behind the Scenes with the Famous

Moving away from fiction, Clunk is a collection of anecdotes from Pete’s decades in the entertainment industry.

The title refers to “the sound of a name being dropped”, with the book packed full of stories from his time as a rock photographer capturing bands like Led Zeppelin and The Who, to his years as Chief Electrician at the Theatre Royal.

More recently, Pete has also worked as a background actor on popular TV shows and films, including Doc Martin, Delicious, Beyond Paradise and Fisherman’s Friends.

About the Author

Pete Minall’s career has spanned rock and roll photography, technical theatre and now writing. In the 1970s, he photographed legendary bands, later moving into theatre, where he lit productions such as The Hobbit, The Hollow Crown and Last of the Red Hot Lovers with Tom Conti. His work also included concerts by Steeleye Span, Sir John Mills, Sir Peter Ustinov and Rick Wakeman.

Born in a small Somerset village and now settled in Bodmin, Pete never expected to find himself working in TV and film. Now, as a writer, he draws on his lifetime of creative experience to produce novels rich in atmosphere, myth and suspense.

Both Clunk and Buffalo Bill and the Beast of Bodmin will be available in physical and digital formats via Pete Minall’s website from 10th October 2025.
