Bude Swimming Pool Closed for Roof Repairs Until October
The swimming pool at Better Bude Leisure Centre will be out of action for more than a month while major repair works take place on the roof damaged by Storm Darragh.
Work Starts This Monday
The closure begins on Monday 8th September, with work expected to last just over four weeks. The pool is due to reopen on Friday 10th October. The repair focuses on the south side of the roof, which was damaged during Storm Darragh in December 2024.

Lessons and Gym Programmes Continue
While the pool is closed, foundation level swimming lessons will continue in an alternative pool. The leisure centre’s gym and fitness programmes will run as normal.
James Curry, GLL Head of Service in Cornwall, said:
“We’re sorry about the temporary disruption which is necessary for safety reasons and have written to all our members to explain what’s happening.”
He added:
“Storm Darragh certainly packed a powerful punch, but I’m delighted that Bude’s roof is being fully replaced, and its solar array repaired.
I’d like to thank all our swimmers for their patience whilst this essential work is carried out and look forward to welcoming them back in early October.”

Who Runs the Centre?
Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise that runs Bude Leisure Centre, along with eight other centres in Cornwall, on behalf of the council.
