In a show of skill, teamwork, and innovation, apprentices from Pall Corporation clinched the title at The Cornwall College Group’s (TCCG) 2024 Apprenticeship Games. This year’s event, celebrated during the National Apprenticeship Week, marked the seventh annual competition, sponsored by Cornwall Opportunities, aiming to highlight the expertise and professionalism of apprentices across various sectors.

The competitive spirit was high on Wednesday, 7th of February, as Cornwall College Camborne welcomed 16 teams of apprentices ready to put their abilities to the test. The contenders engaged in a series of challenges designed to assess their mental, physical, and creative talents, competing for the esteemed “Apprenticeship Team of The Year” trophy.

Pall Corporation’s apprentices emerged as the gold medallists of the event, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and problem-solving skills. They were followed by Wales and West, who took home the silver award, and King’s Service Centre, which secured the bronze.

Teresa Copping, Head of Apprenticeships at TCCG, expressed pride in hosting the event, stating, “We’re incredibly proud to have hosted another successful year of Apprenticeship Games and celebrate the valuable partnerships we have with regional employers.” The games were not only a competition but also a platform for apprentices to showcase their skills and network with peers from diverse industries.

Cathie Kessel from Cornwall Opportunities lauded the effort and achievements of the apprentices, highlighting the importance of acknowledging and celebrating local talent. Shaun Carter, Apprentice Trainer at PALL, emphasised the significance of apprenticeships to their business and the value of the competition in fostering teamwork and communication among participants.

The games featured eight unique challenges, including pancake making, wooden bridge construction, hairdressing, Esports, police investigations, and a knowledge quiz, showcasing the diverse talents of the apprentices.
