Can You Help? Blue Flame’s Christmas Food Bank Appeal Returns for 2024
Supporting Cornwall’s Food Banks This Christmas
Blue Flame, Cornwall’s leading heating, renewable, and electrical company, has reignited its Christmas food bank appeal for the second year running. Teaming up with the Trussell Trust, the company aims to provide vital support to food banks across the county, collecting donations from staff, customers, and local partners.
Last year’s efforts saw over 600 food items delivered to food banks, an incredible achievement that helped struggling families during the festive season. This year, Blue Flame is expanding its efforts, starting the collection earlier and working with partners to increase the reach of donations throughout Cornwall.
Collection Points Across Cornwall
This year, Blue Flame customers, including Harbour Hotels in Padstow, St Ives, and Fowey, have joined the campaign, offering drop-off points for donations. Blue Flame engineers will collect these items weekly and deliver them to local food banks in Wadebridge, Helston & Lizard, and Liskeard & Looe.
Donations delivered directly to Blue Flame will be sent to the Penryn & Falmouth food bank. The team is encouraging other businesses and individuals across Cornwall to join the campaign, ensuring even greater support for those in need.
How You Can Help
During home visits, Blue Flame engineers will collect donations from customers, and items can also be dropped off at the company’s offices until Friday, 20th December. Managing Director Matt Dennison emphasised the importance of the campaign, saying:
“After the success of our food bank efforts last year, we were determined to do it again. Supporting our customers with basic essentials such as staying warm, maintaining hygiene, and, most importantly, providing hot, nutritious meals for themselves and their families is at the heart of what we do as an organisation. Knowing that so many people across the county struggle to provide meals for their families at this time year is heartbreaking, and it motivates us to do what we can to make a difference.”
Matt added that with over 2,500 domestic jobs scheduled for November and December, even one donation per household could significantly impact families in need.
What to Donate
Donations of long-life, in-date food items and toiletries are particularly welcome. The Trussell Trust also encourages donations of new toys and presents, allowing parents to ensure there’s something under the tree for their children.
Blue Flame will deliver collected items to food banks every Thursday from 1pm until 20th December, the day the food banks close for Christmas. For a regularly updated list of needed items, visit the food bank website.
Join the Effort
Blue Flame is keen to cover as much of Cornwall as possible and invites other businesses to participate in this effort to support the community. For more information or to get involved, contact Blue Flame directly.
Let’s come together to ensure no family goes without this Christmas.
