The Cornwall College Group (TCCG) is set to host the highly anticipated Apprenticeship Games, a cornerstone event of the National Apprenticeship Week, this February. Celebrating its seventh year, the competition has become a nationally recognised platform where top employers and businesses from the region, along with their apprentices, compete for the coveted torch trophy.

Scheduled for Wednesday, 7th February, a diverse range of teams are preparing to vie for the gold, silver, and bronze awards. The lineup includes South West Water, Cornwall Council, A&P Falmouth, Fugro GeoServices Ltd, Pendennis Shipyard, Pall Corporation, BD, Kings Service Centre, Imerys, Wales & West, Rittal, Team PESC, Cormac, Serco Engineering and Asset Management. These teams represent some of the most influential businesses in the region.

This year’s competition is set to challenge participants with a series of dynamic and interactive tasks, designed to test not only their technical and networking abilities but also their skills in leadership, teamwork, and communication.

Teresa Copping, the Head of Apprenticeships at TCCG, expressed her excitement about the event, calling it a significant highlight in the institution’s calendar. She emphasised the importance of the competition in bringing together businesses and apprentices from various essential sectors, celebrating their mutual appreciation for the value of apprenticeships.

Cornwall Opportunities, the main sponsor for this year’s event, is equally enthusiastic. Cathie Kessel, the employment and apprenticeship officer at Cornwall Opportunities, expressed delight in supporting, recognising, and celebrating local apprentices through such an engaging and fun event.
In addition to Cornwall Opportunities, Concorde Recruitment, CCB, and South West Water are also supporting this year’s competition as main sponsors.

The excitement and updates from the Apprenticeship Games can be followed on social media channels @cornwallcollege and @duchycollege.
