New agreement between Blue Abyss and NovaCorp Aerospace paves way for space-based entertainment

A new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Blue Abyss and NovaCorp Aerospace could mark the start of a whole new era in sports and entertainment—one that plays out in zero gravity.

Zero-G Entertainment One Step Closer

Blue Abyss, a company specialising in extreme environment training and development, has joined forces with NovaCorp Aerospace, a space-based entertainment pioneer, to explore variable-gravity sports and content production through parabolic flights. The partnership is part of NovaCorp’s ambitious Genesis X mission, which aims to produce extreme sports and entertainment content in weightless environments.

“This agreement demonstrates how Blue Abyss’ infrastructure can enable visionary organisations to explore new possibilities for human experience and commercial space applications,” said John Vickers, CEO of Blue Abyss.

The collaboration will give NovaCorp access to Blue Abyss’s advanced parabolic flight services and extreme environment training facilities. These resources will be used to prepare teams and participants for the challenges of zero-gravity filming and production.

MMA in Microgravity?

Among the planned productions is Galactic MMA—set to be the world’s first competitive mixed martial arts events in microgravity. NovaCorp Aerospace, in partnership with JLE Cinema Group, is aiming to create a new entertainment genre that blends aeronautical, terrestrial and future space-based experiences.

John Lewis, Founder and CEO of NovaCorp Aerospace and a former MMA fighter, said: “As a former MMA fighter, I’ve always believed in pushing human limits, and with Blue Abyss, we’re laying the foundation for the next great leap in human entertainment and exploration.”

Support from NASA and Beyond

The announcement comes shortly after Blue Abyss signed a Space Act Agreement with the NASA Glenn Research Center, reinforcing its position as a key player in human performance training for extreme environments.

With facilities in both the UK and the US, Blue Abyss boasts cutting-edge infrastructure, including the world’s largest and deepest R&D pools, a human-rated centrifuge, and access to parabolic flight services.

NovaCorp’s wider vision extends even further. The company’s NovaStar Space Station programme looks to push the limits of long-term space habitation, while its ecosystem includes astronaut training and advanced CubeSat research.

As the Genesis X mission progresses, this partnership could signal the beginning of a new genre of space-based entertainment—and one where gravity is entirely optional.
