Harbour Housing Adds Seven New Electric Vans in Partnership with Hawkins Motors

Published On: 7 October 2025Last Updated: 7 October 2025By

Harbour Housing has taken a major step forward in its sustainability journey by adding seven brand-new electric vans to its fleet, thanks to a partnership with Hawkins Motors and Citroën. The move strengthens the charity’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint while continuing to support communities across Cornwall.

The new vehicles will be based at Harbour Housing’s offices throughout the county, where their low mileage usage makes them ideal for cutting emissions and lowering running costs. According to the charity, these savings will free up more resources to help the people they support.

Each van features Harbour Housing branding and will be used across the charity’s housing, facilities, and community operations.

Leading the way in going green

Giles Asker, Head of Estates at Harbour Housing, said:
“This partnership is about more than new vans. It’s about showing that a housing charity can lead the way in going greener while supporting the communities we serve. With this addition, 20% of Harbour Housing’s vehicle fleet is now electric, demonstrating our clear commitment to reducing emissions and driving forward a greener future.”

Backing Cornwall’s green goals

Aston Purnell from Hawkins Motors added:
“We’re proud to be working in partnership with Harbour Housing in leading by example with an electric fleet that delivers real social and environmental value. Helping a local charity to go green means lower costs, cleaner air, and a stronger Cornwall and we’re delighted to play our part.”

Harbour Housing says this collaboration not only benefits the environment but also aligns with Cornwall Council’s wider green commitments.
