At Harbour Housing, recycling and reuse sit at the heart of everything they do – from giving buildings a new purpose to helping people rebuild their own lives. A recent partnership with Collecteco has allowed the organisation to do both.

Turning Surplus Into Social Value

Thanks to a generous donation of high-quality office furniture from Collecteco, Harbour Housing has fully refurbished its head office in St Austell. The upgrade has created a more professional, functional, and welcoming space for staff and volunteers alike.

By repurposing furniture that might otherwise have gone to waste, Harbour Housing has reduced its environmental impact while redirecting vital funds towards supporting people experiencing homelessness.

Sustainability Meets Social Impact

Malcolm Putko, Group Operations Director at Harbour Housing, said:

“This is a brilliant example of how surplus resources can be transformed into genuine social value. We’re proud to work with organisations like Collecteco who help turn good kit into good outcomes.”

The partnership stands as a clear example of how environmental responsibility and social good can go hand in hand, showing that sustainable choices can create real, lasting benefits for communities and the planet alike.

About Harbour Housing

Harbour Housing is a Cornwall-based charity providing supported accommodation and outreach services to individuals who have experienced, or are at risk of, homelessness. Their services are tailored to meet a wide range of needs, from helping people discharged from hospital with nowhere to go, to supporting women escaping domestic abuse and sexual violence.

They work closely with each person to deliver housing-related support that empowers them to move towards independent living and long-term recovery. In addition, they connect their beneficiaries with specialist services to ensure support plans are comprehensive, personalised, and responsive to individual circumstances.
