Camborne Recreation Ground Retains Green Flag Award for 2025/26
Camborne Recreation Ground has once again secured the prestigious Green Flag Award for 2025/26, confirming its place among the top parks and green spaces in the UK.
International Recognition for Local Effort
Awarded by Keep Britain Tidy, the Green Flag Award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces. Camborne’s Recreation Ground is one of just 2,250 sites across the country to receive the accolade this year.
The award confirms that the space continues to meet the high standards set out by the scheme, with credit going to Camborne Town Council’s Amenities Team for their ongoing commitment.
“A Free and Safe Space for Families”
Paul Todd MBE, Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, congratulated those responsible for maintaining the space, saying:
“Congratulations to everyone involved in your Amenities Team who have worked tirelessly to ensure that it achieves the high standards required for the Green Flag Award. Quality parks and green spaces like the Recreation Ground make the country a healthier place to live and work in, and a stronger place in which to invest. Crucially, ‘The Rec’ is a vital green space for communities in Camborne to enjoy nature, and during the ongoing cost of living crisis it is a free and safe space for families to socialise. It also provides important opportunities for local people and visitors to reap the physical and mental health benefits of green space.”
Raising the Standard for Green Spaces
The Green Flag Award scheme is run by Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government. It serves as a benchmark for the management of parks and green spaces across the UK and globally.
For Camborne, the recognition highlights the value of well-kept public areas that remain free for all to enjoy during challenging times.
