Camborne’s New Green Space Needs a Name – Could Yours Be the One?
Camborne Town Council is calling on residents to get creative and help name the town’s upcoming community green space. The revitalised area, located at Kerrier Way, promises to be a welcoming gateway to the town, complete with trees, shrubs, traditional Cornish stone hedgerows, and ample seating. This new spot will offer a space for locals to relax, play, and picnic, transforming the site that was once home to the Holman’s factory showroom.
Emphasising History and Community
The Council has provided a few suggestions to spark ideas, such as “Foundry Green,” “Parc Holman,” and “Holman’s Rest.” However, they are keen to hear from the community and are particularly interested in names that reflect the site’s historical significance. Incorporating the Cornish language where possible is also encouraged, as is choosing a name that fosters a sense of community.
How to Submit Your Suggestions
Residents can submit their ideas in person at The Passmore Edwards Building, Camborne Library, or The Basset Centre. For those who prefer to submit online, a form is available via the Council’s website.
All submitted suggestions will be reviewed by the Council, with a final decision on the name expected by early autumn.
This is your chance to leave a lasting mark on Camborne’s new green space. Whether you want to honour the site’s industrial past or celebrate its future as a community hub, the Council is eager to hear your ideas. Don’t miss the opportunity to shape the identity of this exciting new development in the heart of Camborne.
