CSIA Students Take Part in Cultural Exchange Trip to Thailand

Students from Camborne Science and International Academy have returned from an unforgettable cultural exchange in Thailand, packed with colour, friendship and hands-on experiences that took them far beyond the classroom.

A Warm Welcome and a Full Itinerary

The group stayed with families from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, which hosted the visit on the Salaya Campus of Mahidol University in Nakhon Pathom Province. The school is known as Thailand’s first specialised science school and played host to the exchange throughout the trip.

Students learned traditional crafts with their exchange buddies and explored major cultural sites, including Bangkok’s Grand Palace. According to the school, every day offered fresh experiences that helped them understand and appreciate Thai culture.

This was the second visit to Thailand for students this year. In January, three young scientists from the academy took part in the International Students Science Fair hosted by Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, where they presented their research over a week-long programme.

Building Confidence and Lasting Friendships

The academy says its commitment to overseas opportunities helps students challenge themselves, step outside their comfort zones and discover new cultures while strengthening their own confidence and resilience. Experiences like this also help them form friendships that may last a lifetime.

Principal Emma Haase said:
“Our students had an amazing time and we are hugely grateful to the host families at Mahidol Wittayanusorn School for their warm welcome. Opportunities like this allow our young people to broaden their horizons, embrace new cultures, and create shared memories they will treasure forever.”
