Olympic Rower Helen Glover Joins CSIA Sports and Arts Awards Evening
Students at Camborne Science & International Academy celebrated a year of sporting and performing arts success with a special guest in attendance at their annual awards evening.
The event brought together pupils, staff and families, with double Olympic champion Helen Glover joining the celebrations. The school is part of Athena Learning Trust.
Celebrating Sport and the Arts
The Sports and Performing Arts Awards Evening recognised students for dedication, teamwork and commitment across a wide range of activities. Awards on the night included Sports Personality of the Year, Athlete of the Year, Rising Stars, Team of the Year, alongside several performing arts categories.
The achievements of CSIA’s Sports Leaders were also highlighted, with students gaining nationally recognised leadership qualifications.
Olympic Experience Shared with Students
Helen attended as the guest speaker, sharing reflections on her journey in elite sport and offering insight into the perseverance and resilience needed to compete at the highest level.
She won gold medals in the women’s pair at London 2012 and Rio 2016, before becoming the first British mum of three to win an Olympic medal with silver in the women’s four at Paris 2024. During the evening, Helen also answered questions from students, speaking openly about training, setbacks and motivation.
Award Winners Announced
The Sports Personality of the Year awards were presented to Liv C for the girls. The boys’ award was jointly awarded to Fyn M and Harley S, following what the school described as an exceptional year of performance and leadership.
School Pride and Community Spirit
The evening reflected CSIA’s focus on nurturing talent, celebrating achievement in sport and the arts, and encouraging personal growth and leadership throughout school life.
Emma Haase, Principal at Camborne Science and International Academy, said:
“Our students continue to amaze us with their resilience, passion and commitment. Whether competing on the field, performing on stage or leading younger pupils, they represent the very best of CSIA. This evening was a celebration not just of individual awards, but of the collective spirit that makes our school community so special. Having Helen Glover join us made it even more memorable and inspiring for everyone involved.”
