Second Phase of Camborne Renew Highways Works to Begin on 5th January
Work on the second phase of the Camborne Town Deal Renew highways scheme is due to start on Monday 5th January, bringing further changes to Camborne town centre.
The Renew scheme forms part of the wider Camborne Town Deal Transport Project and is aimed at improving how the town centre looks and how people move around it.
What the second phase includes
The latest phase of work will focus on Commercial Street and the area around the town square. Planned improvements include:
-
New seating and planted greenery
-
Improved pedestrian crossings along Trelowarren Street
-
A new zebra crossing at Fore Street
-
Extending free on-street parking at the top of Trelowarren Street from 30 minutes to one hour
-
Repairs to paving in Commercial Square
-
Enhanced lighting and CCTV
-
New cycle parking
Road closures and access
Several short-term road closures will be needed while the work is carried out. Diversion routes will be clearly signed in advance.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout, and deliveries will be allowed as close to individual businesses as possible.
To help support the community during the works, one hour of free parking is being provided at the Rosewarne car parks in Camborne.
Timeline for completion
Work on the first phase began in New Connexion Street in November. The second phase will continue through into the spring.
Plans are in place to ensure the road is fully open for Trevithick Day. After the event, the remaining work, mainly surfacing and the laying of new imprint paving, is expected to be completed by the end of May.
Where to find updates
Updates on the works are being shared on the Let’s Talk Cornwall Camborne Renew page and the Camborne Town Deal website.
