Soul Bar in Camborne Has Licence Revoked After Reports of Antisocial Behaviour

A bar in Camborne has had its licence permanently revoked after becoming a hotspot for antisocial behaviour in the town centre.

Licence Revoked After Police Reports

On 4th July 2025, Cornwall Council’s Licensing Sub Committee ruled that Soul Bar could no longer serve alcohol following repeated reports to the police.

The venue had been linked to alcohol-fuelled antisocial behaviour, violence, noise disturbances, licence breaches and suspected drug dealing and drug use.

Police Inspector Lou Brown said:

“I welcome this decision from the committee. It was clear to see the detrimental impact of the behaviour happening in and around the premises was having on locals.

“This is not a decision that is taken lightly. Our ongoing efforts to work with the business owners in an attempt to reduce ASB were unsuccessful, so it was important that further action was taken.”

Closure Order Preceded Ban

Just a month before the decision, the bar had already been served with a closure order on 3rd June. This made it an offence for anyone to enter the premises for a three-month period in an effort to prevent further antisocial behaviour.

The final revocation of the licence was supported by Devon & Cornwall Police’s Alcohol Licensing Team, Camborne’s Neighbourhood Police team, Cornwall Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour team and local residents.

ASB officer Kay Smith from Cornwall Council said:

“This has been an excellent demonstration of effective partnership working to bring about the closure which ultimately led to the permanent withdrawal of the premises license.

“The positive effect the closure of this bar has had on local residents and business cannot be underestimated and we thank the public for their assistance in reporting to us; without these reports, we would not have been able to proceed.”

Police Pledge Ongoing Action

Police Sergeant Dave Flynn from the Alcohol Licensing team added:

“Our officers will continue to work with partners and the community to tackle premises that are considered not to be promoting the licensing objectives. We are grateful that the sub-committee took the decision to revoke the premises licence.”

How to Report Antisocial Behaviour

Anyone affected by antisocial behaviour is being urged to report it to the police. Reports can be made directly on the Devon & Cornwall Police website. If a crime is taking place, call 999.
